Pilot decision‐making during a dual engine failure on take‐off: Insights from three different decision‐making models

Commercial airline pilots are required to make efficient, justifiable, and safety-critical decisions when faced with adverse events such as engine failures. Although these rare events, the consequences severe, pilot response is critical. This paper reviews decision-making a dual failure on take-off using three different decision models; Recognition Primed Decision Model, Ladders Perceptual Cycle Model. In-depth interviews eight experienced were conducted capture their processes in event. The analysis of models provide recommendations for proposed assistant. discussed relation insight they can bring developing future assistant tool within flight deck commercial aircraft.
